Double Door at the Lake - Sept. 3rd. Cornelius, NC
Happy Birthday Eddie Z! The Double Door at the Lake certainly knows how to party with Charity Case as we found out Friday night September 3rd. In celebration of more CC birthdays than you can shake a stick at, not only Eddie Z (guitarist), but other birthday boys included Jerome Goodman (production) and Charlie Powell (merchandise), Charity Case revved it up for what could be called the highest energy show in town.
Opener Thirteenth Door, started the night off with a bang, bringing the crowd to the dance floor with their own brand of cover tunes. It had been some time since Thirteenth Door matched up with Charity Case and it’s good to see them again.
Can you say another new song never before performed by Charity Case?…That's right, Duran, Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf" has made its way into the set list. This retro hit from the eighties rarely heard today on the cover tune circuit surprised the audience which turned up the volume by singing along.
Although The Double Door is a regular stomping ground for Charity Case, there were some out of town guests in the crowd. Eddie Z’s sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Duffy, showed up to cheer him on, as well as Ace’s “my friend” Byrd. With family and friends in attendance, Eddie Z added a song not originally in the set, “Hard to Handle” by Black Crows, as a personal gesture to those unfamiliar with the CC style. I think they’ve got it now.
Birthday cake all around for an excellent effort once again turned in by “The Hottest Cover Band in the Land.”
Until next time, this is Inside Charity Case.
