Hickory Jaycee's Annual Masquerade Ball
- October 30th. Hickory, NC
Charity Case played to a packed house Saturday night (October 30th) for the Hickory Jaycee’s Annual Masquerade Ball. All the ghosts, witches and vampires, as well as inmates, pimps and school girls partied the night away with the gang from Charity Case and opening favorite Four Friends and a Roadie.
Keeping with the evening’s theme, Eric McRae (bass) took center stage vocals for Rick James’ “Superfreak”. The tune has always been a part of the CC set list, but this time the well-dressed crowd strutted their stuff like it was meant for them. Eric’s usual animation may have been somewhat overshadowed by the variety of characters gettin’ down, but the fun-loving Eric obviously enjoyed the enthusiasm.
“Hungry Like the Wolf” a fairly new addition to the set, even inspired a “tiger” to do a little cat walk, ala the Duran Duran’s video. It took a little coaxing from her friends, but eventually the walk made its way to the stage for a very short appearance. I hope those of you in attendance didn’t miss it. The tiger was a very good sport.
The party rocked on well into the encore when a member of the audience dressed as “Slash” and Roadie Rob as “Axl Rose” imitated signature moves from the former Guns ‘n Roses band mates to the real live music of Charity Case for their rendition of “Paradise City”. They hammed it up quite well.
According to event coordinators this was one of the most successful Masquerade Ball’s for the Jaycee’s leaving open the possibility for Charity Case to do it again sometime.
Until then, this is Inside Charity Case.
