The very first song they learned was “Down On the Corner” by Creedance Clearwater Revival. Although R&B and Funk was his roots, Eric found himself pulled to the electrifying influences of Rock and Roll. By sixth grade, Eric had been playing drums for two years in a family oriented band called the “Young Bloods”, which included cousins and Eric’s mom fronting the band.

Eric took up saxophone as a sixth grader where he began learning how to read music. As a 10th grader at Richmond Sr. High school, he played saxophone in the Symphonic Band, snare drum in the mighty Marching Raider Band and trap set in the school’s Jazz band. In high school, he played in a top forty band called “Choice of Colors”, which was under contract with the now defunct “Hit Attractions” entertainment based here in Charlotte, NC. Eric always had a natural interest in bass guitar that derived from playing drums.
